Thursday, February 16, 5:00-6:30pm – Spaghetti Dinner at St John Neumann Parish Centre, 11545 E. 40th St. in the Foothills. A donation of $10 includes chicken parmesan, spaghetti, Italian salad, garlic bread, dessert and coffee, tea or milk and one glass of wine. Additional wine and beer will be available for purchase.  Only 250 tickets for the dinner will be pre-sold at the parish office. The Main Library, 2951 S. 21st Drive, has most tax forms available. A list of income tax resources will be available in English and Spanish. Forms and instructions are also available online at www.azdor.gov (Arizona) and www.irs.gov (Federal). The Main Library has an Arizona Reproducible Forms Book available to make photocopies. Library staff will assist with Internet searches for forms or instructions; however, library personnel are not trained in tax matters, and therefore cannot advise as to which forms to use.

Keynote speaker Monica Ketchum will be giving a multi-media presentation entitled Civil War to Civil Rights: African American Women in Action, an examination of female activism from 1865 to 1965.

Thursday, March 1, 6:00-8:00pm — AWC and Yuma High Jazz Bands perform at the Village Area of Yuma Palms. The jazz bands from Arizona Western College and Yuma High take the stage to wow the audience with a wide variety of jazz styles and energy.

Thursday, March 1, 6:00pm – Humane Society of Yuma Volunteer Orientation for those age 16 and older (ages 14-15 can volunteer when accompanied by a parent) at Main Library, 2951 S. 21st Drive, for dog walking, cat cuddling, animal bathing, pet photography, and working at PetSmart adoption center and HSOY Thrift Store. These trainings are scheduled for the first Thursday of every month.

Thursday, March 1, 7:00pm – AWC Foundation Thursdays at the Historic Yuma Theatre, 254 S. Main Street. Admission is $5, $250 for AWC and NAU students with ID.  Seven Minutes In Heaven Israel / 2009 / Drama-Thriller /Hebrew w/ English subtitles / 94 min; Synopsis – Galia, a young woman from Jerusalem, and her boyfriend Oren board a local bus. The bus explodes, leaving Oren in a coma and Galia with severe burns and memory loss; she lacks memory of the day of the terrorist attack and the days leading up to it. The film begins one year after the attack, upon Oren’s death. As Galia undergoes physical and mental therapy, she attempts to stitch together the shattered fragments of her life and soul. A necklace sent to her from an unidentified source sets her off on a journey to find the missing pieces of the puzzle from that horrific day.

This is a ceremonial unit from Marine Barracks Washington, featuring “The Commandant’s Own,” The United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, The United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, and the Official Color Guard of the Marine Corps. Each year, this highly skilled unit travels worldwide to demonstrate the discipline, professionalism, and “Esprit de Corps” of United States Marines.
